MLA In-text citations 하는방법
영어 논문/ 페이퍼를 쓸때에 MLA In-text citations이란 자료에서 도출한 생각과 내용, 인용문을 표시하는 것 입니다. 정보의 신뢰성을 표시하기 위해서 사용하는 인용법입니다. 인텍스 사이테이션을 정확하게 표시하지 않으면 교수님들이 점수를 깎는 경우가 있으니 수업이 인텍스 사이테이션을 요구하는지 아닌지 꼭 확인 하시기 바랍니다. 다음은 인텍스 사이테이션을 하는 방법에 대해서 예를 들어서 알아보겠습니다.
- 예를들면 아래와 같이 직접 인용문을 썼을때는 반드시 인텍스 Citation을 씁니다. 괄호안에 작가의 이름과 페이지를 넣는 것이 기본 입니다.

2) 작가의 이름과 페이지번호를 써주도록 하며 , 만약에 자료가 하나 밖에 없는 경우에는 그냥 페이지 번호만 옆에 적어주셔도 됩니다.
According to Edward W. Said, imperialism is defined by “the practice, the theory, and the attitudes of a dominating metropolitan center ruling a distant territory” (9).
3) 만약에 팟캐스트나 유뷰트 비디오 영화 같은것을 인용하셨다면 아래와 같이 이렇게 그 부분의 재생 되는 파트를 표시를 합니다. (00:02:15-00:02:35).
만약에 그럼 웹사이트 같은 곳에서 자료를 퍼왔는데 작가의 이름이 없다면 ? 그럴때는 아래와 같이
We see so many global warming hotspots in North America likely because this region has “more readily accessible climatic data and more comprehensive programs to monitor and study environmental change . . .” (“Impact of Global Warming”).
4) 웹사이트의 제목을 따옴표 안에 넣은후에 표시하도록 합니다.

5) 만약에 작가가 두명이라면 작가의 성을 따서 인용구를 만듭니다.
The authors claim that surface reading looks at what is “evident, perceptible, apprehensible in texts” (Best and Marcus 9).
6) 만약에 작가가 세명이상이라면 ? 뒤에 et al. 을 붙여 줍니다.
The authors claim that one cause of obesity in the United States is government-funded farm subsidies (Franck et al. 327).
7) 만약에 동일한 작가의 작품을 쓴다면? 이름을 빼고 작가의 작품이름을 적습니다.
Lightenor has argued that computers are not useful tools for small children (“Too Soon” 38), though he has acknowledged elsewhere that early exposure to computer games does lead to better small motor skill development in a child’s second and third year (“Hand-Eye Development” 17).
8) Indirect sources 사용? 소스 내에서 누가 인용을 해놓은 것을 그대로 또 인용하고 싶은 경우에는 Qtd. In 를 붙여 줍니다.
Ravitch argues that high schools are pressured to act as “social service centers, and they don’t do that well” (qtd. in Weisman 259).
그럼 사이테이션이 필요 없는 경우는 언제인가요? 모두 사이테이션을 하면 페이퍼가 사이테이션으로 지저분 해지겠죠?
속담, 아주 잘 알려져있는 인용구, 일반지식 같은 것은 인용을 할 필요가 없습니다. 예를 들어서 두 문장을 보겠습니다.
*죠지 와싱턴은 미국의 초대 대통령이다. (인용 할필요 없음)
*한국에서 코로나바이러스의 치사율은 약 0.7 %로 OECD 국가중에서 가장 낮은 편이다.(인용반드시 필요)
